A WEEK IN SANTORINI

A FEW WORDS ON THE ISLAND

this island is wolrd famous as the island made by lava. It is located near to Crete and amde by the volcano of Thira .Previosuly the is was a bigger siland that covered all this island as well as rte smaller islands around her but due to the volcano most of the island has been lowered insiode the waters . However many of the ancient places cities of the island ( 1600 BC ) with the burnm of the volcano has been retained well and onlyhave been covered by the lava It is deemed that the ancient places found n Akrotiri and ancient Thera were of the preiod of the minoan civilizations Many... have been made by the volcano frm the 198BC till today that changed the strcture of the island

Except this main characteristic the island has soem more peculiarities that cannot bee \nfound in other greek island:

Three main villages are made in the : Thira , Oia and Imerovigli that seem to be hannged up over the stone hills made by the lava . In all these villages the roof of the one house is the verranda of the other house . IN other words the houses make design of a ?house made stairs?

Most of the newer houses use a spheric or cylindric design of their roofs (domes) . This is made because they use the rain water mainly for drinking. The wine produced in Thira is made by ring shapped vineyards over the earth....

The wetern part of the island Thira has a height of 300 meters while the eastern parthas exactly the sea height ( at most)

Per my opinion Imerovigli is the nicest amgnst these three villages with excellent house colouring and an impresive design.OIa is world famouns for its excellent (?) sunset . We waited thre for more than 1 hr and more than 2000 people (mosty foreigners) waited to admire the sunset

IN the eastern part there were marvellous beaches to swim. AS anyone could wait the sand was black.
Our group was of 31 persons . Our tour was from Thessaloniki on 2200 LT Sat 21 via tourist bus toPiraeus ( Sun 22 at 0630) then with ferry boat ( 0730 to 1730) The program was mainly visit in a place or city , then swimming , return to the hotel , near Akrotiri at the southern part of the island for meal then after 1900-2000 visit to Thira or to other place and at end on thira Nights on 0000 LT back to hotel

IN radio and TV :

Two main radiostations exist in Santorini as yo will see in the list the? independent radio station of Santorini? and the station ?Top melody? both in Thira All the main radio and TV netwirk relay is located in the highst point of the mountain named Profitis Ilas at a height of 545 meters above earth ( 3 mobile tel service towers - 4 radio towers - 3 TV towers and more )
All the receptions made are with Jupiteru MVT 7100 wide band receiver -
Notice: 1 is the low on normal mode 3 is the high on normal mode and low in ATT- ON

There was no available TV on the hotel so unable to check which Tv channls could be avialbvle on the island ( except the marked as 5)
