Sheldon Harvey - Greenfield Park QU - ve2shw@xxxxxxxxx

Just checked out 600 and 850 kHz. this morning (April 21 at 1359 UTC,
for the parallels of 940 News and Info 690 here in Montreal. Both 600
and 850 are now on continuous tape loops telling listeners to tune their
receivers to the 940 and 690 frequencies.
Looks like this might be the last weekend for 600 and 850 kHz.
Will keep everyone posted on further developments. I will try to
contact them today to find out when they are pulling the plug
officially. My guess right now is probably at the end of this long
weekend.

4/22

Thanks to an update from Bill Westenhaver earlier today noting that
the tape loops running on 600 kHz. and 850 kHz. have changed early
today.
Both the English tape on 600 and the French tape on 850 are now saying
that the frequencies will go silent on Sunday at Midnight (0400 UTC
Monday).
For those out of range of the Montreal region, a tape recording of
yesterday's and today's tape loop will be played on tomorrow morning's
(Sunday) International Radio Report on CKUT-FM Radio McGill at 10:30 AM
Eastern, 1430 UTC. This programme is available on RealAudio through the
CKUT website, live streaming only;

Another Alberta station is gone from MW. While doing some antenna
work yesterday I noticed KMJY on 700 instead of CKRD, so checked with
Joe Talbot up in Red Deer, and they're gone. Had been parallel with the
new FM on 105.5 for the past couple of months.

** kevin redding - Mesa AZ - lwdxer@xxxxxxxx

I heard an UNID last night on 1560 in the KNZR null. Radio loopstick
was directional 045/225 from Phoenix and format was "Real Country".
Never heard this one before. Unfortunately after listening for a half
hour the station faded and since it was satellite fed, I never got an
ID. Any ideas?

** Pat Martin - Seaside OR - mwdxer@xxxxxxxxx

Your UNID C&W was KKAA-South Dakota. They mix regularly here with KNZR
at night. Heard KKAA last night.

>From most recent DX Monitor:

CALL LETTER CHANGES:

CA Costa Mesa KNOB- 540 becomes KKGO (note: this station is
currently silent-ye ed.)

Can anybody shed some light on this? They have been dark for at least
two years. When they were last on, there was a huge overlap with XEBACH
in many parts of the Los Angeles area.

** Pat Martin - Seaside OR - mwdxer@xxxxxxxxx

I am a bit surprised they applied for KKGO as the CE at XEBACH/KGIL/
KGXL told me that 540 was not going to return to the air because of the
over lap of the 2 signals. Apparently management changed their minds.
XEBACH gets out so well in So Cal. They must be 10 KW Day & Night ND by
their signal in Rancho Mirage. Here in Oregon I get them often mixing
with CBK at night too.
