RE: [HCDX] K9AY = Super Antenna?

The K9AY discussion faded out a bit, so let's start it again ;-)

I am wondering if anybody has ever compared the Wellbrook K9AY against a
self made  K9AY antenna.

The price of the Wellbrook type is quite high compared to the used
components showed in the http://www.arrl.org/tis/info/pdf/9709043.pdf
Especially because I want to use the antenna _only_ during DX-peditions, the
price is experienced as a bit too high.  Has anybody an idea where I can
order (online) that 3/4 -inch-diameter (0.825 inch) 43 material toroid
mentioned in the pdf document.
