AUSTRALIA 17580. One of the planned frequencies for Olympic coverage next
month. Heard at 0005 in English with fair to good reception. News
program. (Salmaniw, 5 August).
COLOMBIA 9634.96 Radiodiff. Nacional de Colombia at 0359 with Latin music
and Spanish talk. Good reception, but spoiled by sign on of DW Antigua at
0400 on 9640. (Salmaniw, 5 August).
TUNISIA 7110. Tunis is in the clear in Arabic at 0406
fair/good. Parallel 7275 is equal to cochannel VOA Botswana in English,
both quite good. (Salmaniw, 5 August).
UZBEKISTAN 12075 Radio Netherlands relay in English at 1457 with fair
reception. I also note that my records have Vatican Radio relay via
Uzbekistan also at the same time on 12065, fair in unknown language (this
one tentative). (Salmaniw, 5 August).
ROMANIA 17805.10 Radio Romania International, English to Europe, with ID
at 1744. Poor reception. No other parallels noted. (Salmaniw, 5 August).
PIRATE (South America) 14565 LSB Radio Sin Fronteras heard with usual
music program and ID in Spanish at 0442. Poor reception. (Salmaniw, 6
August).
SICILY 10940.5 USB AFRTS relay heard as early as 2335 and as late as
0600, but best around 0300 with upto good reception at that time. Parallel
to 6458.5. Nothing heard the next night, however. (Salmaniw, 6 - 7 August).
After summer holidays, and quite a hiatus from DXing, it's nice to get back
into the groove! Hope everyone's able to fire up the old receiver(s) and
have some fun!
