Re: [HCDX] Israel on 6973

No, it is not Kol Israel - it's Galei Zahal and it has been heard daily here on 6973 kHz for the past several weeks. The operating hours on 6973 varies from day to day - but usually they start on 6973 around 1600-1800 - and continue all through the evening and the night - till around 0600-0700 UTC. During the remaining time they utilise 15785 kHz (I have never heard them using both frequencies at the same time).

Both frequencies are heard very well all the time here in Denmark. Power is reported somewhere as 10 kW.

Transmitter site is somewhere in Israel and the station is operated by the army of Israel.

Why on short wave?? Well - why is the US army transmitting on short wave all over the world. These countries (Israel and USA) have military activites outside their own territories - all over the world, so ...

Kol Israel is one of the few words I have understood, at 17.57 came a block of commercials. Have been trying hard to get an ID to which service it is, but must assume that it is their commercial program "Reshet Beth". Very fine signal, but as anyone can understand, I don't understand Hebrew. Fine flow of news, interviews, music and commercials. A good question : Why are they on this frequency, and from where ?
