Like Pat, I also use a 400 foot (about 125 meters)
'mini-beverage'. Mine runs just about due south-to-north and
aveages about 8 feet (2.5 meters) off the ground. (I have kids,
so I can't have it so low.) I do not terminate mine as I am
mainly interested in what comes off the south end (where the
lead in is). It is moderately directional. I used to have
another 400 foot one that ran to the Northeast at about 40
degrees. That was enough that there was usually a noticable
difference between the two. And, because there isn't much SWBC
DX Northeast/Southwest of Iowa, this second antenna wasn't used much.
