[HCDX] The Future Of NORDX -competition

Hi!
NDL, the Organizer of NORDX 2001 competition has started a discussion
about the Future of NORDX. That discussion is taking place on SWEDX at
the moment.
What did we wrong ?, NDL asks. Only 44 competitors took part this year.
That´s all time low. During NORDX´s heyday in the 80´s and 90´s the
figure was regularly over 100, even 200 in some years !
NDL did nothing wrong. The main damage was done in previous years, when
the prestige of this contest became more and more dubious.
I have participated since 1966. I remember some controversial jury
decisions, which always seemed to favour Swedes. Competitors who used
same listening shacks and same antennas (a kind of cooperation).
In some years the organizing clubs haven´t been up to their task, or
keen to do their job properly. Making competitors look like fools, when
they wait contest results and/or prizes for nearly 12 months or more.
It´s the cumulative effect, not one particular error or mistake, I feel.
Best 73´s, Helo.
