[HCDX] Latin American MW logs for the evening of AUG 22 (AUG 23 UTC)

Bogdan Chiochiu
using my father`s 2002 Mazda Protégé car-radio on the road in Pierrefonds and on the parking road at the St.-Charles clinic while waiting for my mother to came from the work there

1110 VENEZUELA, YVQT Radio Carúpano, Carúpano, Sucre AUG 23 0044 - Tentative with SS announcer mixed with a C&W domestic and especially WBT. Tentative logging based on previously confirmed logging from Burlington, VT in May. (Chiochiu-QC)

1570 unID (XERF La Poderosa 15-70, a SS domestic or something else) AUG 23 0049 - (No Es Amor) Es Un Obsecíon by Grupo Aventura followed by other Latin tunes. Very strong peaks, but also extremely poor ones. Sometimes covered by an unID domestic talker and often covered by splatter from often local-like WQEW Radio Disney in NYC on 1560. I think this may have been XERF, because this spring when I corresponded with a music fan from Mexico via Kazaa messenger, he told me that the bachata group Grupo Aventura is very popular in Mexico, so it must be played very often on the radio, so maybe it was XERF. I may not hear this never again as to get an ID because a new station in Laval (another suburb of Montreal) will start broadacsting very early this fall with a French Nostalgia format and will obviously kill any DX on this channel here. (Chiochiu-QC)

1660 PUERTO RICO, WGIT, Canóvanas-Moca AUG 23 0046 - Tentative with rapid fire SS male announcer under WWRU Radio Unica domestic wich was in SS too ! Tentatively new, to say the least, as I never heard a SS signal on 1660, other than the Radio Unica NJ outlet before. (Chiochiu-QC)

Bogdan speaks: This evening after I finished the SW mini-DXpedition in Île-Bizard, I went with my father to pick up my mother from work and got to do some listening from the parking lot and heard the 1110 and 1660 Latins, then on the road caught the 1570 signal playing bachata, Spanish pop and Latin dance music and listened to it until we arrived at a McDonald restaurant where in the parking (while my parents buyed two cheeze-burgers with bacon for me) it faded completely under the WQEW-1560 splatter, so I tuned back to 1660 to see if I could ID WGIT, but all I got was the Radio Unica pest alogn with some powerline noises. Believe it or not, it`s my first Latin American MW DX session in over 2 months. With my Sanyo MCD-S830 broken, my DX activites did slow down a lot.

It will be a really great idea if someone could call XERF and ask them if at 1949 Ciudad Acuna time (2049 EDT and 0049 UTC) they were playing (No Es Amor) Es Un Obsecíon by Grupo Aventure. My father locked the interurban phone calls with passwords 3 years ago, so I cannot call outside the Montreal area anymore. If it`s a SS domestic, there are a lot of opportunities, especially with satellite networks, to check if a precise station was playing a tune. In any event, I really want to confirm that station, especially since it may be my last opportunity to do it, before CKLM (or whatever will be the calls of the FF nostalgia station) gets back on the air. And I`d really like to have XERF in my logbook, especially considering how rare Mexicans are here at my location.

Well, that`s it for now !
73 and good DX,
Bogdan
