[HCDX] Re: [ ABDX ] Kenwood R-1000

During the last 40 years I've owned many receivers. The Kenwood R-1000 was
the third digital readout receiver I ever owned, the second was the Sony
ICF-6500W (unstable) and the first an ICF-6700 (low dynamic range howling
dog.).

The R-1000 has an excellent receiver including on MF. My fourth digital
receiver was the R-2000 and it was also very good on MW. I remember turning
the tone control into an RIT on that rig.

The Drake R8A was number 5. Best I ever had until the FT-840.

My Yaesu FT-840 transceiver is number 6 and it's the best receiver I've ever
had. To this day it's dedicated to SWL DXing.

The Ten Tec S350 is the wave of the future. It's sister rig the Jupiter
transceiver is highly prized in ham radio circles.

One day I'll find me another R-1000 and R-2000 for sentimental reasons.
