Radio Prague Annual competition:

VOA Launches News Bulletin Service to Indonesia:
Sunday, April 3, the Voice of America begins delivering Indonesian language
newscasts 25 times a day to its network of more than 200 radio affiliates
in Indonesia.
The new service, VOA Headline News, will deliver the freshest news possible
every 30 minutes during the 12-hour period when Indonesian radio audiences
are at their peak. The service was developed in response to Indonesian
radio stations' requests for short newscasts throughout the day.
"The concept behind the new program is to provide our affiliate stations
with constantly updated news reports," said Norm Goodman, Chief of VOA's
Indonesian Service. "These 25 newscasts each day will be in addition to our
regular programming, so Indonesian stations will always have the most
up-to-date news at their fingertips."
Each newscast will cover world, regional, and U.S. news. The daily program
will air every half hour between 0030 UTC and 1030 UTC and a second segment
between 1300 UTC and 1630 UTC.
VOA's Indonesian Service broadcasts an average of four and a half hours per
day of news and information programming to Indonesia. Its radio programs
are carried by more than 200 AM/FM affiliates across Indonesia and its
television programs are aired by 12 national and regional TV stations. The
service also maintains a dynamic Indonesian-language website at
www.voaindonesia.com

RTM-Malaysia to unveil new corporate image for its radio stations :

National broadcaster Radio Television Malaysia will unveil a new corporate
image for its radio stations tonight during a ceremony at its Angkasapuri
headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
The New Straits Times reported that RTM's 32 national, state and district
radio stations will be given an image make-over with the launch.
In conjunction with the rebranding, its stations nationwide have arranged
new line-ups of shows and themes. The broadcaster is an ABU member.
Malaysian Information Minister Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir said RTM radio
should not be left behind in competition with private radio stations.
He added that the current rebranding exercise was aimed at consolidating
RTM's authoritative position in local broadcasting. ( Source : ABU Website)
BBC launches advertising campaign in Iraq :

The BBC has launched a major TV advertising and billboard campaign in Iraq,
promoting the availability of the BBC Arabic service programing on seven FM
frequencies across the country.
Filmed in Iraq, a dynamic 30-second TV ad with the strapline Your world,
your news - on BBC Arabic will appear on Iraq's first independent satellite
channel, Al-Sharqiya TV.
Starting on Friday 1 April and running for the next 30 days, the ad
promotes the BBC Arabic availability on FM relays in Iraq, including 96.0
FM in Mosul and Irbil, 89.0 FM in Al Kut, 89.0 FM in Al Amara, 89.0 FM in
Baghdad, 100.0 FM in Al Naseriya, 90.0 FM in Basra and 92.9 FM in Kirkuk.
The billboard campaign starts on Tuesday 12 April and will last for 12 months.
It features two hands encircling a map of the Middle East and will appear
in high profile locations in Baghdad, Basra and Mosul.
Alan Booth, Controller of BBC World Service Marketing Communications &
Audiences, said: "The BBC's position in Iraq is increasingly strong, with
at least 3.5 million people listening to BBC Arabic, mostly on FM.
"We are keen on making even wider Iraqi audiences aware of the world-class
programing BBC Arabic offers them.
"With impartial and objective international news and analysis, the BBC
keeps them up to date, putting the Arab agenda in the global context."

launched on 11 June 2004 across more than 90 countries.

Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation to set up 47 radio stations in 3 years :

The Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) will set up 47 new FM radio
stations over the next three years to ensure 100 percent coverage in terms
of both area and population, reports the Daily Times of Pakistan.
This was stated by PBC Director-General Tarique Imam while talking to an
eight-member Malaysian delegation led by Information Secretary-General Dr
Arshad Hashim at the PBC headquarters. PBC is an ABU member.
Mr Imam briefed the delegation on the news, program and engineering
departments of the organisation, adding that the media could play an
important role in expanding and promoting friendship between both countries.
Draft proposals for bilateral cooperation between Radio Pakistan and Radio
Malaysia were also discussed, and the two sides expressed a desire to
enhance cooperation and exchange programs regularly.
In addition, visits of technical and professional personnel from Pakistan
to facilities in Malaysia and vice versa were also agreed. (Source : ABU
