MEXICO 9599.2 R. UNAM 2320-0002 Apparent educational discussion by
several people in SP. Pgm outro at 2331 over SP Pop mx. Then live intro
for next Classical mx pgm w/ID ?R. Universidad Nacional??. Into said
pgm. 2355 song anmnts, TC, instru. mx. W returned at 0001 w/TC, nice
complete ID w/calls and FM and SW freqs, but Havana slop QRM began at 2358
ruining nice reception. (23-24 Feb.)
PAPUA NEW GUINEA 3335 R. East Sepik 1139-1155 Long tlk by M in lcl
dialect w/many ?OK?s and ?alright?s. Also ments of transmission, program,
broadcast, and tomorrow. Finally native choral singing at 1156 briefly and
M again. 1157 singing again. 1158 different studio M anncr w/ment of pgm,
PNG, Province, then 1159 native wind instru. w/birds in background
signature. 1200 M w/nice ID, date, SW amn FM (90.7) freqs, etc., tone and
EG nx ending w/??and that?s the news. Its 3 past 3?. Dead-air, then anmnt
for something giving many Provinces, NBC, and P.O. Box address in Boroko,
attn Andrew ??. Studio M anncr at 1205 w/accurate TC and intro for pgm
highlighting ?local bands?. Nice signal and clear audio. (24 Feb.)
ADMIRALTY ISLANDS 3315 R. Manus 1207 lively island mx, 1211 into
?Different Drum? by Linda Rondstadt and the Stone Ponies, and off at
exactly 1211:53 in mid-song, never to return. Nice signal on decent PNG
morning. (24 Feb.)
MEXICO 9599.2 R. UNAM 1356-1404 Classical mx to ToH, 1400 M w/anmnts
including TC, then intro for XE sports pgm by W w/ID and into Black Sabbath
mx, then said sports pgm. Excellent signal. (24 Feb.)
24 February 2007: Was out on a Europirate micro-DXpedition this
morning. Once the stations had faded out, I changed antenna direction to
330° from 1116-1119 to see how the Asians and Pacific stations would
sound. Had the NRD tuned to 3385 East New Britain during the
change. According to the time, the signal suddenly increased as I was
nearly at the end. Strange.
PAPUA NEW GUINEA 3385 R. East New Britain 1117 M rapidly
preaching. Ended w/choral singing and outro mentioning the pgm name
?Message of Hope?. The rel. choral singing continued past 1122. Good
signal. (25 Feb.)
INDONESIA 4749.96 RRI Makassar 1135 M rapidly announcing what was
obviously a sporting event. Got quite animated briefly!! Ments of
Jakarta, etc. Audience noise. Nice signal and best hrd in a very long
time. (25 Feb.)
