[HCDX]: N Korean Soldier Radio...again!

NORTH KOREA

Frontline Soldiers Radio may have resumed its 'normal' (i.e. irregular)
activity, at least on 1613v approx. 1400-2000 in KK. Until Sept. 1997, this
station was regularly observed 3-4 days/week. From Oct. through Dec. it was
totally silent except the few sporadic transmissions, about once a month,
despite my daily monitoring.

Now, however, there have been three broadcasts in less than a week: Jan. 7,
10, 11. Even the signal seems stronger and more stable, as this country's
power supply has shown some signs of improvement since last week. The two
shortwave frequencies 2625 and 3015 have remained inactive since October.

Considering the signal strength (SIO 333-443 in Japan) and relatively clear
channel, I am pretty sure this station can be heard in many parts of the
world, especially now with the favorable propagation conditions. I would be
VERY interested to know if anyone has heard this outside the Far East.
Listen for ID "Chonyun Chobyondurul wihan Bangsong imnida" on or about the
half-hour.
