[HCDX]: Radio Baltic Waves

Dear Sirs,

Many thanks for your kind assistance in the monitoring of the Radio Baltic
Waves (RBW) test transmission on 6235 kHz, November 4, 1998. We received
reports from Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Russia and Ukraine. The
audibility in the target area - Belarus - was good (SIO 4/5-5-4/5) using
2.5 kW transmitter with zenith radiation antenna. The Tx power will be 5 kW
at the beginning of the regular service, with future plans to increase it
up to 20 kW. At daytime, the 49 metre (6 MHz) band is optimal for HF
broadcasting from Lithuania to neighbouring Belarus, while after sunset the
6 MHz signal skips over the target area, and the 75 metre (4 MHz) band is
preferable in the evening.
We will inform you about the future developments of the RBW operations.

Best regards!

Rimantas Pleikys,
RBW Project Coordinator
