from catalog data (purely "paper" comparison, as I do not have
anything else on these):

Racal RA 1792:
	150 kHz thru 30 MHz
	USB/LSB (A3A, A3H, A3J, A2A, A2H, A2J)
	AM (A3)
	MCW (A2)
	CW (A1)
	FM (F3)
	filters: 2.9 kHz for USB and LSB
	         300 Hz for CW
	         1, 6 or 12 kHz for AM
	memory for 100 frequencies

Racal RA 6790/GM
	500 kHz thru 30 MHz (it is said to go down as low
		as 50 kHz, by some trick)
	AM, FM, CW, USB, LSB
	7 selectable IF bandwiths
	filters: 200 Hz for CW
	         1.2, 2.4 or 6.8 kHz for AM
	         9 kHz for FM
	no mention of memories for frequencies

So, the latter seems to be the more professional one...
