[HCDX]: Frequency trivia

Did you know that the Japanese aircraft carrier Akagi transmitted CW [Morse] on 4960 and 4963 KHz while approaching the Hawaiian islands around 7 December 1941? Did you know that that this information was Top Secret Codeword information until very recently? Did you know that the Japanese did NOT maintain radio silence as they approached Pearl Harbor? And finally did you know that as the Japanese carrier strike force departed Hittokappu Bay and headed East to attack Pearl they switched their Tokyo link frequency from 12330 KHz to 16620 KHz.?

All this and lots of other VERY interesting stuff is in the very recently published “Day of Deceit” by Robert B. Stinnett which “proves” FDR knew of the impending attack and insured that it happened in order to get America into the war. Great reading for WW 2 buffs. Also, you can tune to those very frequencies and listen for a “time warp” and read these messages as sent way back when. Gee, if SWL hobbyists only had an M-7000 and a Ten-Tec RX-340, who knows what would have happened!!
