WCBS was off 0400-0700, then back on with CBS News at 0700, but according to
Craig they were off again after that, but I went to bed! The last time I noted
WFAN off, WCBS was off too.
What I heard: two Spanish stations floating in and out of each other, so it was
hard to distinguish what was unique about each. At least one was Mexican, as
there was a Mexican anthem at 0456. Neither station was Cuban, as there was a
commercial feel to each one of them. One announcement mentioned "Secreteria de
Industria", other announcements mentioned "la playa" and "Baja California".
There was a lot of accordion music. One slogan that I could not decipher even
after several repetitions seemed to be an FM ID "... punto cinco", but I will
have to listen to the tape again. At 0618 I did get a solid ID on R. Paraguana
from Venezuela. At 0643 there seemed to be a preacher, but I seem to recall the
Venezuelan does some religious programs. Only briefly did I hear country music,
presumably Manitoba.
