Already a number of years I have developed programs to control

For more information on this have a look on my homepage.

I have in mind to make the full (Visual Basic v6 pro) source code
available to other developers as the first input for a kind of Open
Source project for development of HF receiver control software.

Jan,

My first question is what license would you release it under? GPL is the most restrictive, but there are a number of other options.

My first inclination would be to find out how difficult it will be to translate it to C or Perl and port it to Linux. VB restricts it to the Microsoft platforms, which are no longer viable options with their new license and activation structures.

Then I would have to figure out how well it would work with my IC-706MkIIG.
