[HCDX] RE: Hard-Core-DX Digest, Vol 5, Issue 31 -- CKBC Bathurst NB 1360 khz

Steve Kamp has a QSL card from CKBC-1360 for August 31 1971 reception (about
15 minutes around 0200 PDT/0600 ADT) from San Jose CA. Card says that
Kamp's report was CKBC's first from West Coast North America and that most
of CKBC's reports came from Europe. That morning also saw verified reception
of WTIC-1080 Hartford CT abnd WSAI-1360 Ohio.

Once more about this unid 9270, don't get bored :).
Just came to my mind the Turkish harmonic on 5562.
It's origin must be 927. So this 9270 could well be
10x927. Harmonic, just like Mauno suggested. Have
to check 9270 tonite against 5562.

Dear Finnish short-wave freaks,

just have a look here. It may interest you.

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3327204973&category=8259

This is a well kept JRC NRD 535G - HF Receiver + NVA 319 which I got a few
years ago from my uncle but I never found the time to start using it. This
means it "slept" packed in my board for years and is like a new one. It is
together with the extern speaker NVA 319.

Don't worry about the delivering. Here at work I am just not able to tell
you how much it would be. But I could check it if you want later at home.

So if you place the winning bid, don't worry. Even if we would face a
problem or question, we will solve it. I didn't register at ebay as
"business man", you can talk to me like you would talk to any good friend.

I hope this makes you understand a bit more about me.

Kind regards.

Andreas

Any question? Just ask me and I will try to answer in English.

PS: Dear Mr. Ari Kilponen, please don't missunderstand my posting. I just
didn't reach you by answering your mail and thought maybe I can reach (all
of) you this way.

Hello everyone

If anyone is able to help me with two Peruvian stations which heard these
days quite well in Moscow. I am sure, they are 100% Peruvian and 100%
catholic ones, both often transmitting rosarios. They are heard on 5020 khz
and 3279 khz at usual Latin America time for Moscow region around 0100-0200
UTC.
Could it be Radio Horizonte from Chachapoyas on 5020 (there aren't other
Peruvians on this frequency) and Estacion Wari on 3280 khz. That station on
3280 khz 100% isn't Ecuatorian La Voz del Napo, but as far for Peruvians
only one Peruvian stn mentioned on 3280 khz, namely Wari, but I don't know
if Wari still broadcasts and if it is a catholic station. Please, help if
you know. Thank you for advance!

Artiom Prokhorov (Moscow, Rusia)

antemano.

Hello once more,

I made me sure that 3280 mentioned in my previous posting was Peruvian
station basing on the similar catholic style of some other Peruvian
stations - that on 5020 (it is 100% from Peru because of music content,
chicha and tropical and frequent mentions of Peru), as well as 4975 Radio
del Pacifico (I heard ID like ... Pacifico Radio...) and 6115 Radio Union
(as well I heard two clear IDs). The only Peruvian on 3280 is Estacion Wari,
but I am not sure it is active now.
But I looked through Cumbre DX recent postings and found out Radio Maria
from Guatemala on 3280 too. How active this station is and is it possible
that I heard Radio Maria instead of Wari? As far as I see Maria is catholic
one too? But when I heard it there were Peruvians on other frequencies and
nothing from Guatemala (3300, 3325, 4800)

Thank for all your possible help,

Artiom

catolica tambien, no? Pero cuando la oi no huvo emisoras otras guatemaltecas
en otras frecuencias (3300, 3325, 4800)

Gracias por toda su ayuda posible,

Artiom

Yesturday I was very tired, so immediatly after I finnished my report, I did
go to sleep, I was so tried that I did not even bother to sent my message
twice like I should (once to the HCDX, MWDX and NRC lists and the second
time to the DX'ers and friends I'm in touch with, as to save space and time
for those who read my logs in Hard-Core DX et al). I also forgot to make a
few comments on my logs.

I was very happy with my tentative catche of WKOX on 1200, especially
considering the Ottawan powerhouse on the same channel and the (unID) NOS
domestic that were both underneath the assumed WKOX and that gaine dtoo much
dominance as the tropical song followed the Spanish pop one.

I also tried to get the RNE Radio Cinco synchros out of Spain on 1314 kHz,
but could only get splatter, mostly from CKEC-1320 and also a little bit
from a mess of stations on 1310 (the strongest of them was CIWW). On the
low-band aside from my presumed logging of WZON, the only other interesting
thing was hearing English talk under CHAM, on 820. This was possibly WBAP in
Fort Warth, TX as previously logging with the same receptions conditions (u/
CHAM), but maybe something else; maybe a low-power domestic ? I say that,
because KMOX was extremely poor on 1120 and could only be heard with WPRX
nulled out. I usually get remains of nulled KMOX throught WPRX during
average condx to the west !

I tried to get CFDR on 780, but only heard a very, very poor WBBM with local
CJAD nulled. I also tried for CKOD-1350, but could only get an ESPN domestic
in and out. I could not even hear CIGO-1410 wich was audible in a hospital
were I was in February wich had concrete cils and not even window to the
east in the room I was. Still condx toward the Canadian Maritimes were a bit
above average, since CKEC-NS and CKBC-NB were both easily heard. There are
not too many stations in the Canadian Maritimes on the AM band, at least
compared to the state of Maine wich is in the same bearing as Canada. I will
chase WZON tonight as well and I hope to get WLAM on 870 as well soon.

Well, that's it for now !
Before I left, I'd only like to know how far west 1360 CKBC in Bathurst, NB
is audible. I know they are fairly commun in Europe, but I'd like to know if
they are possible for those living on the west coast, like Patrick Martin.
It's not the best time of the year for really long-haul MW DX, but I'd
really like if Patrick could try for CKBC around his local sunset, unless
you have a very strong station on this channel. Maybe you'll have a
surprise, who knows ?
73 and good DX,
Bogdan

620 WZON ME Bangor - 5/18 2324 - Presumably this with commercial ads in
null of semi-local WVMT Burlington. I hope to get an ID on this one soon !
(BC-QC)

1200 WKOX MA Boston - 5/18 2009 - Tentative with a SS pop followed by
trop mx. Do not match what I heard on Radio Tiempo-Venezuela when I received
them this fall and I don't know of any other SS's recevable on 1200 kHz in
north-eastern North-America. (BC-QC)

1320 CKEC NS New Glasgow - 5/18 2243 - Canadian Adult Contemp. song
followed by "It's Overnight on CKEC" mention by a disc-jockey who also saied
this pgm will end in 15 minutes, then Weather forecasts, followed by singed
jingle and continuation of mx. Very strong, alternating over / under ethnic
CJMR and remains of nulled WATR-CT. (BC-QC)

This is my last comment about this unid 9270 (at least for
a while) :)).
On 19 May at 1830 on 9270, the station with vibrating carrier
and Middle-East/Central Asian sounding music was again
audible. And it is Tajik Radio, second harmonic of 4635.
Not a Turkish harmonic, but harmonic anyway :).
Below the original messages with a lot of speculation.....
