The issue of DXing while being on vacation has been discussed several month
ago here, and, as far as I can see, there remains different opinions (which
is ok for me, as we are still speaking about a hobby, right?).

Of course there is a difference between having QSLs from lets say 200
countries heard from your home location and QSLs heard from various
locations around the world. But that is another question than if one can
call it DX.

When being on the island of Jamaica, I tried several times to log some
stations from the southeast of the Caribbean on MW. I got not all I
searched for, and most of the stations were audible for only about 30
minutes during local sunset. Later most of the channels were covered by
Colombian or US stations, depending on the receiving location on Jamaica.
That WAS DX for me!

There cannot be any doubt, however, that it is essential to tell the
station in the reception report where the signal was received. I always
did. And I also have no problems to tell other DXers how many countries I
did receive outside of Germany.

I I always enjoyed it a lot to explore frequency ranges - MW and the
tropical band especially - when being in a country at the other side of the
earth. It is a bit like starting the hobby for a second time, as you cannot
rely on the experience you made at home over the years.

Willi
