According
to a previous report of Henrik Klemetz in his "Dateline
Bogotá" dated April 24, 1995, he first noted the
resumption of the SW outlet on April 13, 1995. He reported
that the ID did not always sound as it should, and it seemed
to be something like "Radio Acari" on two counts.
I learned at my visit on Octobre 11, 1995 the reason why
he didn't get the ID of R Ayaviri at that time. R Ayaviri
has not broadcast its proper programs for lack of personnel
since its reactivation, so the SW outlet is totally utilized
to transmit another station's programs. Radio "A" ("A" is
naturally the initial letter of "Ayaviri"), a new FM station
which commenced the broadcasting operation in November 1990,
and it broadcasts on 101.5MHz using a monaural FM transmitter
(0.1kW) which was made by Hugo Solosano Cornejo in Arequipa.
The FM station is operated *1000-0300* daily, and
the SW transmission is currently scheduled at *1000-1500*
and *2100-0300*.
The SW outlet is equipped with "Petrick" brand transmitter
(1kW) & 1/2 wavelength duple-dipole antenna (16m high).
Corina Llaiqui Ochoa, wife of station owner said that R
Ayaviri would broadcast with proper independent programming
in the near future.
Traditional ID:
"Desde la provincia Melgar, Ayaviri, en el departamento
de Puno, capital del folklore peruano, transmite Radio Ayaviri,
La Voz del Melgar. 1500 kc onda media y 5035 kc onda corta."
According to the MIT list (1995), Radio Ayaviri has
never been licensed to broadcast on MW/FM. The SW outlet
is officially licensed to transmit on 5035 kHz with call
sign OBX7F, but it has been on 4606.5 kHz since many years.
