Mark:
FWIW, I feel you make a valid point. Frequency is a key
component in the sometimes subconsious process of ID'ing a
station.
In the 30+ years I have been a mostly SWBC DX'er, I have served
as an editor more than once. When submitting a logging, the
editors role is to make sure the information is basically correct and
to format the information for presentation to the reader.
A loggings frequency is important and with todays technology, its certainly
possible to accurately to carry it out 2 places. If one were listening to 3305
and heard programing that was South Seas oriented, knowing if
the frequency were 3304.8 or 3305 would be a key information
component to a conclusion that one were listening to RRI Dili or R.
Western in PNG.
Having a good idea of what a DX'er thinks they hear helps us "set
up" mentally for an often difficult to hear ID voiced most times in a
foreign language to us.
